The RAM is brand new DDR3 1333 MHz.Ĭan anybody come up with a possible cause for this other than a defective motherboard? Could I have hurt something trying to connect the internal speaker (connected backwards?)? I have worn an anti static wrist band with the power supply off (but plugged in) at any time when I was working on the system. I have also tried a different graphics card and still just a black screen. All the board LED's light up, but occasionally the VGA LED will stay lit - I have tested the graphics card in another system and it appears to work fine. I have also waited several minutes for the system to start, with no results.
I have tried clearing the BIOS/CMOS and disconnected the hard drives and optical drives, keeping only the essential components connected. after this point, I have seen only a blank screen when trying to start the system. Later, having noticed that the internal speaker that came with the mobo had not been installed, I attempted to connect this speaker.
After assembly, I booted the machine and installed windows 8, and proceeded to reboot a few times that same day. If you tested this outside of the case, with 1 stick of RAM in every independent slot, and made sure all power cables are connected, this is either a DOA CPU or DOA motherboard.I have recently put together a system with the ASUS M5A99x EVO R2.0 board, with an MSI graphics card and Corsair RAM. Of course you can get "00" after changing some BIOS settings as well, usually related to LN2 or PLL related stuff in the "Tweaker's Paradise" options-one of the fastest ways to "soft" 00 your CPU, especially when doing it at the exact same time as enabling or disabling E-cores or P cores (fixed usually by a complete hard PSU AC power cycle, as sometimes even safe boot button will 00 on you).Ĭan you remove the CPU from the socket and see if any socket pins are bent? You can also take a high res clear picture and upload it here so we can look at your socket pins.
Having a post code and seeing "00" on the CPU would immediately tell you "CPU's dead. (this is one of the drawbacks of buying lower end motherboards, you save money but it can make troubleshooting very difficult). Of course a post code readout would REALLY help here. Not sure if there might be any Alder Lake specific issues, couldn't find any info regarding it, that's why I'm asking.Ĭlick to expand. If you tested this outside of the case, with 1 stick of RAM in every independent slot, and made sure all power cables are connected, this is either a DOA CPU or DOA motherboard. Is there anything else I can try, or it's 100% a dead CPU or mobo issue? I tried downloading a new BIOS and installing it by plugging in the USB and let it do it's job with 'Asus Crashfree', didn't seem to do anything either.Ĭable connections are fine too, and the PSU is also completely okay.
None of the LEDs are red, unless I stop the PC with the power button, then the CPU led blinks red for a really short time. Tried booting with all 1x, 2x and 3x 4 pins connected to the board, reseating the CPU, RAMs are also properly installed, the socket seems to be completely fine too. I tried the usual stuff, trying one RAM stick at once, different slots, I even tried with my old RAM which certainly works, no luck. The issue is, it doesn't boot, the RGB on the mobo is on and the fans on my AIO spins a little, not too much tho. My 12900K and + ASUS TUF GAMING Z690-PLUS WIFI D4 mobo arrived recently, planned to build my new rig today. Sorry if it's not the way of asking help here or anything, I've been only lurking a few threads, never posted or anything before.
